Holistic Postpartum Doula Care:
40 day lying in support inspired by ayurvedic postpartum practices for the modern mama.
Looking for a different type of postpartum care from the standard 6 week check up after being catapulted into the great unknown?
I know exactly how you feel. After the birth of my son, I felt so isolated, exhausted, and overwhelmed. Leaving the hospital, I was totally lost on how to heal from my cesarean while also taking care of this new and very dependent life. Postpartum doesn’t have to be this way. With the right support, you can ease into parenthood while giving yourself time and space to heal.
Traditional ayurveda-inspired postpartum care takes a body and spirit centric approach to healing. This is a holistic 40 day lying in period with complete care brought into your own home.

Please note: I am no longer offering placenta encapsulation. Though I believe eating the placenta is a deeply personal choice that every mama should have the option to make, it no longer aligns with my beliefs. My mind changed when I realized the placenta is not the mom’s organ. It is made by the mom, for the baby out of the baby’s genetic material. So, in respecting the newborn’s right to bodily autonomy, I will not be offering placenta as a food. That said, I respect any mom’s decision to consume it.

Payton is amazing!! She is sweet, patient, loving, and kind. I trusted her immediately. When I met her the night I came home after I gave birth, she brought me a beautiful calming gift basket showing how thoughtful she is. I would 💯 hire her and trust her with your baby. I’m so grateful for how helpful she was during my time of transition 🦋

Payton is a great doula. Also a great night nurse as well! Thank you Payton for taking great care of my baby, she didn't treat it like a job, but more with love and patience. and it's very comfortable to be around her as well, she makes you feel warm! I would recommend to my friends and family if she is available.

Payton was such a huge help after I delivered my second child and everyone in my family tested positive for COVID except for me and my baby. I was isolated for the first 10 days after giving birth, and I would have felt so exhausted and alone if it had not been for Payton who helped care for both me and my baby. She was extremely flexible with her scheduling and was such a pleasant and calming presence to have around during a beautiful, but difficult time. Payton helped me by holding and soothing the baby if I needed to take a rest, helping prepare nutritious food for me, providing advice to my breastfeeding questions, and listening to any other concerns I had. I would definitely recommend hiring her as an extra support system!

Payton came to be with me and my son when I was postpartum. She is so gentle and kind and I was able to rest knowing we were in good hands. Thank you Payton for being apart of a very special and vulnerable time in our lives!

I visit 5 days a week for 3 hours a day. Each of those visits will look a little different. Generally, I’ll start the visit by making a warm pot of tea or coffee so we can sit down and discuss how things are going: how you’re feeling, any questions or concerns, etc. Then, I can take the baby so you can shower, eat, or rest. During that time, I also do some meal prep and tidying up. Finally, I end the visit with some self care for mama tailored to where you are in your postpartum journey. This may be yoga, yoni steaming, herbals, belly binding, or something else.

I know investing in yourself like this can feel scary. That is why I offer payment plans. A deposit of 50% is due at the time of contract signing and the remaining payments can be split up as needed. Another great way to fund this type of care is to start a postpartum doula fund for friends and family to contribute to. It’s a great alternative to traditional baby shower gifts you will likely end up returning or regifting.

Ayurveda is an the oldest medicine/wellness system and sister science to yoga. While I am formally trained as an ayurvedic doula, I prefer to say that my work is inspired by ayurveda. I choose not to incorporate all of the tenets of ayurveda, for example a vegetarian diet (though I was vegan for years) or warm oil enemas.
