Meet the Doula

Hi, I’m Payton.

I’m a full spectrum doula and Yoga Instructor who serves Central Florida. I’m also mama to the most precious little human.

Before I became a doula, I was an anthropologist studying breeding strategies and parenting in primates. The core of my research was about how cooperative breeding (i.e., having a “village” or support system) is so deeply ingrained in us and our primate relatives as an evolutionary survival strategy. This began shaping my ideas about motherhood in humans and how modern society robs us of the support we need postpartum. These feelings laid a foundation for what would later become my greatest passion.

My journey into birth work really got started after the birth of my son left me feeling deprived and traumatized. The medicalized birthing system treats pregnancy as a disease that doctors must save us from, often leading to a cascade of dangerous interventions. This experience inspired me to learn from the wise women and elder midwives in my community about natural birth and holistic postpartum. This new perspective was so powerful that I knew it was my calling.

As a birth doula, my goal is to help moms step into their power and ancestral knowledge so they can birth confidently and autonomously. As a postpartum doula, I find joy in nurturing and nourishing mama so she can focus on healing and rediscovering herself through this incredible rite of passage. My goal is to bring back the village, traditional care practices, and ancient wisdom. I offer doula support in all pregnancy outcomes including live birth, still birth, miscarriage, and abortion.
